Sparks fly with Northern lights

Sparks fly in these dramatic photographs capturing an artist swinging burning steel wool above his head, while the Northern lights – or aurora borealis – appear in the sky behind him in Mo i Rana, Norway…

…The stunning light show was produced by Tommy Eliassen, who set fire to the fibre and swung it around as fast as possible. He placed his camera on a tripod and sets it to a long exposure. He said: “It took me a few attempts but eventually I got it right. The problem was the exposure, it was difficult getting the steel wool and the Northern lights exposed just right.”
