Bryde’s whaleBryde’s whales tend to live in tropical or sub-tropical seas. Their numbers are unknown, although environmental groups estimate global populations at 40,000 – 90,000.Japan now catches up to 50 each year. The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society says that as Bryde’s whales have only recently been commercially exploited they are not considered a species under threat.
