From above, it looks a bit like a spider, with jagged black pillars sprawling leg-like over the building, backlit by white light.

Inside, more than 29,000 square feet (2,700 square meter) houses the world’s largest collection of works by one of the most multifaceted artists of the 20th century.

Musée Jean Cocteau“Cocteau is very well-known for his literature, poetry, but not for his graphic arts,” says chief curator Célia Bernasconi.  “This museum is very important in bringing a new sense of recognition.”

The featured exhibits were contributed by philanthropist Severin Wunderman, who donated his entire personal collection to the initiative, including 990 original works within a total amalgamation of 1800 pieces from other artists within his circle.
