James Cameron will dive to Ocean’s deepest point
Filmmaker James Cameron and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence has announced he will soon operate a one-man submarine 7 miles deep to the Pacific’s Mariana Trench, the deepest point on earth.
James Cameron intends to descend solo squeezed into “Deepsea Challenge” manned vehicle, to the Mariana Trench’s lowest point, the “Challenger Deep.” He will spend as much as 6 hours on the ocean floor and will film and take specimens for scientific study. The Deepsea Challenge expedition will be filmed for a 3D documentary.
