3D printer in action

Scientists now believe astronauts will be able to build replacements of tools, by simply printing them. The problem of how to replace broken tools in space, has always been a worry.

 

As we expand into space, we’re going to need a lot of tools, in order to build and maintain space stations.

Dr Kaplan is shown in the video a printed copy of an original wrench, fully functional.

He said: ‘So going into space, you just take a printer and you can print whatever you want.’
