Form 1- an affordable, professional 3D printer

Researchers at the MIT Media Lab created the Form 1 printer, an easy-to-use 3D printer system, that rivals the output of high-end printers at a fraction of the cost.

“We became frustrated by the fact that all the professional-quality 3D printers were ridiculously expensive (read: tens of thousands of dollars) and were so complex to use.

In 2011, we decided to build a solution to this problem ourselves, and we are now ready to share it with the world.”

The Form 1 printer is engineered to produce high resolution parts with the touch of a button, and uses stereolithography instead of plastic extrusion for their consumer focused device.
