The Pink Lake, Lake Retba (Lac Rose), has a high salt content, a perfect living conditions for micro-algae called dunaliella salina. Like this lake in southern France.
The presence of dunaliella salina in this small lake, east of Dakar, is what gives the lake its pink hue.
