Aurora Borealis on March 2013
This time lapse shows what happened during four hours over Östersund here in Sweden, on Mars 17, when an CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) hit Earths magnetic field, resulting this stunning Aurora Borealis. Have a look at the video…
Simulate the Sun’s Magnetic Fields in 3-D [video]
A team of European researchers recently simulate the Sun’s magnetic fields in 3-D, bysing data from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory and the Swedish 1-meter Solar Telescope. Image credit: Wedemeyer-Böhm et al./NASA
Earth’s Magnetosphere behaves like a Sieve
ESA’s quartet of satellites has discovered that Earth’s Magnetosphere behaves like a sieve in orbit, and that our protective magnetic bubble lets the solar wind in under a wider range of conditions than previously believed.
Sounds of Space
An audio of the phenomenon known as “chorus” radio waves within Earth’s magnetosphere that are audible to the human ear, was recorded by RBSP’s Electric and Magnetic Field Instrument Suite and Integrated Science (EMFISIS). Largest Solar storm recorded in eight years (video)
The largest solar storm recorded in more than eight years is currently affecting our Planet. A giant wave of charged particles from the sun slammed into the planet’s magnetic field on Tuesday morning. Credit: NASA’s SDO.
Juno lifts off for Jupiter
The Juno spacecraft launched aboard an Atlas V rocket from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011. Juno will make a five-year, 400-million-mile voyage to Jupiter. Image Credit: NASA/Bill Ingalls
Wireless charging of cars batteries
A full recharge of an electric car takes quite some time, and that’s no option when you’re running out of juice during a trip. Siemens and BMW seem to work on a fix, and that’s wireless charging.
