Spaceport Sweden Located in Kiruna, Swedish Lapland, Europe’s premier space city since 1957, is a pioneering initiative to set up space tourism and hub for commercial human spaceflights.
An engineer has proposed to build a full-sized, ion-powered version of the Enterprise complete in foul details, with 1G of gravity on board, and says it could be done with current technology, within 20 years.
Designed by Rotterdam-based ONL Studio the Spaceport for future Galactic Travels, it is supposed to host the future operator for space travels and offer a venue for international scientific space ressearch. The landmark building will be built as a spaceship, applying maritime and aviation techniques on the building body.
Phase one of the world’s first commercial spaceport, which will be the hub for Virgin’s consumer spaceflights, is now 90 per cent complete.
