Our Location in the Universe
We find out that earth is not the center of the universe and from the 17th century that the Sun is not the center of our galaxy (Milky Way). Today we know that our galaxy is part of a growing universe with billions of galaxies, containing billions of Suns (Stars).
The images after the jump explain our place in the universe with a very easy way.
The beginning of the universe, for beginners

Have scientists found Dark Matter?
Researchers reported that the $2 billion Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) may have detected particles produced by “cosmic glue” the dark matter, which makes up 27% of our universe. Image © NASA
Most Detailed Map ever of our Universe
This image of our Universe acquired by ESA’s Planck space telescope, was just released revealing the existence of features that challenge the foundations of our current understanding of the Universe. Is the most detailed map ever created of the cosmic microwave background, the relic radiation from the Big Bang.
