Apple just granted a patent that reshapes dramatically your car’s interior. The patent incorporates everything from laser pointer inputs to cameras, and taking care of the problem of a driver safely controlling on board technology.
The new Apple patent called “Programmable tactile touch screen displays and man-machine interfaces for improved vehicle instrumentation and telematics” or “Digital Dash,” can control many of the car’s features and even track the driver’s head movements.
The system can include a screen with “real knobs, switches and sliders.” The controls from either side of the dash can be transferred to a big display in the center, enabling the auto manufacturer to customize the interface for any given model.
For the moment it is unclear how automakers will collaborate with Apple.
