Facts about Meteors and asteroids:

The 130,000 ton 2012 DA14 asteroid was its closed to Earth at 7.25pm, GMT, on February 15, and within 17,000 miles – closer than some satellites.

It would have exploded with the force of 2.4MILLION tons of TNT if hit Earth.

The flyby occurred hours after a smaller meteor exploded above Russia.

The meteor was a 1.5 meter-wide object weighing about 10 tons, traveling at 15 km/s.
