Los Angeles design group APHIDoIDEA has proposed putting 65 of disused shipping containers together, to create an environmental education center for the city of Long Beach.
The proposed building would be the eCORRE Complex (Environmental Center of Regenerative Research & Education), and would have other eco-friendly elements in the build, including a vegetated roof with rainwater harvesting system and plants. There’s something about the rolling design that reminds of Sydney’s Opera House, but for the Long Beach residents, a building built from shipping containers might be a step too far.
