Full Worm Moon in the Lighthouse

The full worm moon in this sequence, is signaling the coming of spring in the northern hemisphere, was captured in Cape Espichel lighthouse.   Image © Miguel Claro,   with permission.

Opened in 1790, in 1865 was powered by olive oil, changing to fuel in 1886, when its light began to be fueled by glowing vapor of oil, much later in 1926 by electricity. Measures 32 meters high and lies at an altitude of 168m above the see level. Presently, its luminous range is 42 nautical miles, about 67 km.
