According to the Wall Street Journal, Google will invest more than $1 billion on 180 satellites that will orbit the Earth at low altitudes, to give Internet access to areas that have little or no Internet access.
The Google satellites project will be led by Greg Wyler who recent joined Google and his own satellite communications company O3b. The company has also hired around 20 satellite engineers.
