French studio Scau in collaboration with local, Moroccan firm Archi Design, they won the International competition for the design of ‘Grande stade de Casablanca’, a new stadium that will serve as the home to the Morocco National football team.
The Grand Stade de Casablanca will be built in an old quarry and will feature passive solar design with concrete fin-like blades that promote natural ventilation.
In between the envelope of the blades and the interior stadium is a garden that serves as a thermal buffer and oasis for the spectators to enjoy.
Construction on the 80,000 seat soccer stadium is expected to begin shortly and then be completed some time in 2013.
