India is going to Mars 2

India successfully launched its first ever mission to Mars today, for a 10 month-long voyage to the Red Planet. It will study the Martian atmosphere and searching for methane after achieving orbit.   Image ©  ISRO

Above: The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), designed and developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), will act as a technology demonstrator, to show that India can design, build, launch, and execute that kind of mission.

The mission will last 300 days and it will orbit Mars to survey the planet’s geology and atmosphere.
