Kyocera announced that it will partner with two other companies to build Japan’s largest solar farm in Kagoshima City on the southwestern island of Kyushu.
The 314 acre farm (roughly the area of 27 baseball stadiums) will collect solar energy on 290,000 panels, capable of generating 70 megawatts, enough to provide electricity for 22,000 homes.

The total project cost is estimated at approximately 309 million US dollars, with construction to commence in July of this year.
The Solar Plant is being built to help solve Japan’s power supply issues caused by the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
