What could be a bike road dream, a Skycycle road in London, designed by a team of architects using the empty channels above some train lines to build floating, bike-only cycle superhighways.
A unique idea by British architect Norman Foster, which if ever implemented, would create 136-mile (219 km) network of elevated cycle routes spanning the city of London. The aerial bike lane above rail lines would cost around $200m and would take about 20 years to complete. The car-free cycle routes would be accessed by using ramps located in more than 200 points.
It definitely would improve the quality of life in London and would encourage a new generation of cyclists.
