The archeologists are calling the city Chactun, which translates to Read Rock or Large Rock, and they hope to collect information about the collapsed ancient Maya civilization about 1000 years ago.
They also estimate that at the newly discovered city, lived around 40,000, that holds at lest 15 pyramids, plazas, ball courts and more.
The city discovered by viewing aerial photographs, was populated between 600 and 900 AD, during the late Classic period of Maya civilization.
