This GDPE project on the Guangzhou skyline, a landmark that will be difficult to miss. The futuristic building, inspired by the ancient Chinese imperial jade disks, is designed by architect Joseph di Pasquale, AM project Milan.
The shape is traditionally associate with luck and good fortune.
Is 138 meters (453 feet) in height, with a 47 meter (154 foot) diameter hole in the center.
The main purpose for the landmark building design has been to get the maximum result in terms of memorability for turists and visitors.
“We choose the traditions of the Nanyue King we visited in the Museum of Nanyue King Tomb Treasures in Guangzhou.
We consider the shape of the double jade disk as the strongest shape inspiration and the perfect starting point for the GDPE Landmark Building design.
In particular we consider the iconic power of the jade disk shape as the most important feature for the building image. Jade, like bi disks, has been used throughout the Chinese history to indicate a person of moral quality and has also served as an important symbol of rank.”
