Astronauts in the near future will use 3D printing machines, that create objects layer by layer, that can make anything they need, even metal machine parts.

One of these companies, Made In Space, is more than just a manufacturing company.

“It is a company built on a pedagogical shift in thinking about how we design for living, working, and building in space.”

“Additive manufacturing is the process of building (or “3D printing”) a product layer by layer. A wide range of materials can be printed with additive manufacturing machines, from hard plastics to Aluminum and Titanium. Example spacecraft components that can be built include more efficient rocket nozzles and lighter miniaturized satellite parts.”
