NASA unveils new searchable video, audio and imagery library for the public.
In the 59 years since it was first founded, NASA has taken some of the most iconic videos and images of space.
Above, black-hole-powered galaxies called blazars are the most common sources detected by NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. As matter falls toward the supermassive black hole at the galaxy’s center, some of it is accelerated outward at nearly the speed of light along jets pointed in opposite directions. http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA20912
Now, in a bid to make this media as accessible as possible, the space agency has launched its new image and video Library.
Members of the public can now search and download more than 140,000 images, videos and audio files, including stunning views of Mars, and the famous first steps on the moon in 1969.
