Two years ago NASA challenged three aircraft makers – Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman – to design the next-generation airliner.
Northrop’s concept was unveiled last week, during the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics Sciences Meeting in Nashville.
NASA will analyze and select a single design to build a 737-sized test vehicle, but programme is now on hold due to budget cuts.
