A personal electric airplane called S2 by JoeBen Bevirt, that takeoff and lands vertically (VTOL) like a helicopter, and flies aerodynamically, like an aircraft.
NASA has noticed the S2 electric airplane designed by inventor and entrepreneur JoeBen Bevirt, and is funding the development of a 55-pound unmanned aerial vehicle.
A simulation of a full-scale, 1,700-pound S2, could fly two persons about 200 miles.
Bevirt explains:
“S2 wouldn’t have been possible just a decade ago. There has never been a better time to be an aircraft designer.”
“New compact and efficient motors, ever-increasing power density in batteries, smarter control systems, and tinier sensors mean the plane will soon be a reality.”
