Every year from July to October, over a million wildebeest stampede from the plains of the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Maasai Mara in Kenya on an annual migration towards greener pastures. Many wildebeest don’t complete the trip and succumb to exhaustion or predators that lie in wait on land and in the water. Photographer Paolo Torchio
The photographer waited for the stampede at the banks of the Mara River where the wildebeest cross the dangerous currents which are filled with hungry crocodiles. Torchio captured images showing the power and majesty of the wildebeest as they thundered through the Mara River.
