Scientists from the University of Wollongong‘s Australian research council center of excellence for electromaterials scienc, have developed BioPen, providing surgeons with tool to perform customized implants.

The custom-made and handheld BioPen will allow surgeons to repair damaged and diseased bone material by delivering live cells and growth factors directly to the site of injury.

This method will accelerate the regeneration of functional bone and cartilage.
