Deepwater Wind, the company behind Rhode Island’s first offshore wind farm, will double the proposed size of the project to an estimated cost of $6 billion., to deliver electricity at a lower price.
200 wind turbines that will be placed at least 18 miles off the Rhode Island coast.
The project will generating 1000MW of renewable electric power (instead of 350MW).
An additional cost of about $1 billion will be needed for the undersea transmissions network between Massachusetts to New York.
