Sandy could have been avoided with car tyres by Intellectual Ventures

Professor Stephen Salter states that Sandy could have been avoided with car tyres system, to cool the ocean’s surface and stop deadly hurricanes from forming.

Professor Stephen Salter of the University of Edinburgh and the company Intellectual Ventures, support that a structure called Salter Sink made by discarded car tires, could prevent hurricanes formation.

“The tires lashed together to form a giant 80-100 meter ring. Waves push hot water into the top of the cylinder, which pumps the water inside down. It comes out the bottom (around 200 meters below) and mixes with colder water. This brings the temperature on the surface down over time.”

Even just one degree centigrade might be the difference between a category 4 or category 5 hurricane.
