Socrates Gone Mad

A 69 year old man who roller blades in slow motion is stirring up controversy just as Diogenes the Dog did in Ancient Greece 2,500 years ago.

Dr. John Kitchin is a former neurologist and psychiatrist known as ‘Slomo’ who abandoned his lucrative career in order to live by the beach in San Diego and pursue “a kind of divinity” through skating.   A New York Times video about ‘Slomo’ has inflamed passions and promoted a large number of disparate comments as people try to come to terms with his unconventional lifestyle, much like Diogenes before him.
