The solar powered aircraft  will use only the power from the sun, to complete the non stop trip around the globe, thanks to a financial commitment from Bayer MaterialScience.

Solar Impulse, the carbon fibre aircraft, is using 12,000 solar cells, that covers the upper side of its wings, and provides power to four 10 HP electric motors.

Solar Impulse has demonstrated that a solar-powered airplane can fly day and night using no fuel. The next challenge is to fly around the world.
“Our aim is to prove that progress is possible using clean forms of energy.
Becoming a pioneer is all in the mind.”
