peanut allergies

Doctors can ease severe peanut allergies and increase the patient’s tolerance through gradual exposure but you should not try this tiny test at home.

Allergic children and their caretakers can benefit because the Cambridge research team that gave 85 kids with peanut allergies a gradually increased amount of peanut protein found that tolerance increased. Specifically, over the course of six months they found that 88% of those kids were able to tolerate five peanuts’ worth of the allergic-reaction-inducing protein without ill effect. Also, over half of this group’s kids could safely tolerate twice that amount.
