HMS Ambush, the second of the Royal Navy’s new nuclear-powered 7,400 tonne Astute Class attack submarine, that is more complex engineering project than the space shuttle, is ready for sea trials.

The superb submarine cost around £1 million to build, has sonar so sensitive capable to hear a vessels 3,000 miles away and can cruise non-stop for 25 years.
The Astute-class is the latest class of nuclear-powered Fleet submarines in service with the Royal Navy. The class sets a new standard for the Royal Navy in terms of weapons load, communication facilities and stealth. The boats are being constructed by BAE Systems Submarine Solutions at Barrow-in-Furness. Seven boats will be constructed.
