A thought:

If it could be managed without undue adverse impact on thrust-to-weight ratio, perhaps introduce two retractable wheels at center-line, for ground operation.

Less complex and heavy than a four-wheel configuration, less slippy-skiddy than simple ground effect via the fans (though one might just drop onto the wheels when one needs to corner, and skim on the straightaways).

The vehicle would be gyroscopically (and, at need, *propulsively*) stabilized, and consume much less fuel on the deck (handy when one has wrung the last bit of safe flight time out of the vehicle, but still needs to get to a recharging station).

This design is the stuff of *poetry!*

Please be assured (FWIW) that, in the risibly-unlikely event that my book should ever be optioned for a screenplay, I will most *ASSUREDLY* be in touch!

Well-met!!
