The primary focus of the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project is to scan the sea bed of the Black Sea to carry out geophysical surveys. But also 67 ancient shipwrecks have been found.
Due to the lack of oxygen in the Black Sea’s ‘dead zone,’ they are very well preserved.
The ship’s design confirms the accuracy of a famous Greek vessels.

The project is funded by the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust.
