Flying Whales hybrid airship, a revolution in air cargo transport.
French startup Flying Whales has developed its hybrid airship concept for over a decade. The company hopes this massive aircraft will revolutionize cargo transport by linking cities with remote, hard-to-reach areas—delivering goods without needing to land.
Flying Whales estimates that operating the LCA60T could cost as little as one-fifth of what current cargo planes like the Airbus Beluga require.
If built as planned, the LCA60T would be much larger than other airship projects, measuring 656 feet (200 m) long and 164 feet (50 m) wide. Its 315-foot (96-m) cargo hold could carry up to 60,000 kg per trip, while 6.3 million cubic feet of helium would lift it to 10,000 feet in the air.
