Honda eVTOL air taxi to start flight tests soon, after receiving a recent approval from FAA.
Honda has kept its eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) project largely under wraps since its announcement in 2021. However, a recent FAA waiver hints that flight tests may soon begin.
Three years after unveiling its plans for an intercity eVTOL aircraft, Honda appears ready to test its prototype. FAA records show that Honda Research Institute has been granted permission to fly a subscale prototype for research and development.

Honda aims to expand its legacy of innovative mobility solutions by developing eVTOL aircraft. These vehicles are designed to operate closer to the ground than traditional airplanes, creating a new layer of accessible air travel. The company envisions a connected “mobility ecosystem” centered around its eVTOLs, integrating various transportation layers for seamless mobility.
