SpaceX Starship Flight 6. SpaceX
Shortly after launching Starship for the sixth time, SpaceX chose not to catch the Super Heavy booster first stage.
Super Heavy began its landing burn and gently splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico for ‘safety reasons.’
During its sixth test flight on Tuesday, Starship launched successfully, but the Super Heavy Booster landed in the ocean instead of being caught by the company’s large “chopsticks” system.
The Starship upper stage survived reentry and performed a controlled soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean at 6:05 p.m. ET.
