Deep Fission Nuclear ReactorDeep Fission Nuclear Reactor. Deep Fission

Deep Fission nuclear reactor offers a highly safe and cost-effective power solution by placing proven technology in an unconventional setting—deep within rock a mile underground.

The company has designed a modular nuclear microreactor (15 Megawatts-electric) that can be installed at this depth within a 30-inch borehole. This innovative approach merges established nuclear technology with new drilling advancements, presenting a novel solution for clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

“Deep Fission is revolutionizing the way we generate power with our cutting-edge underground small nuclear reactors.

As the world demands cleaner and more reliable energy, we’re committed to providing an affordable and accessible solution. We are a team of scientists, engineers, environmentalists, regulatory experts, and business professionals who believe in our mission of making clean and reliable energy affordable and accessible to all.”

The Deep Fission reactor is based on the widely used pressurized water reactor (PWR) technology. It utilizes the same fuel, and control methods as standard PWRs, operating at similar pressures and core temperatures. The heat from the reactor is transferred to a steam generator deep underground, producing steam that rises to the surface to drive a conventional turbine and generate electricity.

With no moving parts at depth aside from control rods and coolant flow, the design minimizes maintenance needs. If inspection is required, the reactor can be quickly raised to the surface via attached cables.
