Elon Musk and SVP Drew Baglino talk about the new long-range, more effective battery design for all upcoming Tesla cars.
Elon Musk reveals new battery design at Tesla Battery Day. The new “biscuit tin” battery cell is cylindrical in design, and it’s still using lithium-ion chemistry.
Musk explained about the new batteries:
“Important note about Tesla Battery Day unveil tomorrow. This affects long-term production, especially Semi, Cybertruck & Roadster, but what we announce will not reach serious high-volume production until 2022. It’s 1000% to 10,000% harder than making a few prototypes. The machine that makes the machine is vastly harder than the machine itself.”
Many exciting things will be unveiled on Battery Day 9/22 ⚡️
