Hyperloop tube

Watch in the video how magnetic levitation, will help Hyperloop Transportation to ‘float’ at 760mph.

A new technology, a form of passive repulsion called ‘Inductrack,’ is a safer, cheaper alternative to magnetic levitation. It uses a series of magnets attached on each capsule to help them ‘float.’

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) and the (similarly named) Hyperloop Technologies Inc. (HTI), are in competition to demonstrate a feasibility of Elon Musk’s vision.

If the system finally works, Hyperloop could transfer passengers from LA to San Francisco (380 miles), in just 30 minutes.

Bibop Gresta, chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, explains:

“Utilizing a passive levitation system will eliminate the need for power stations along the Hyperloop track, which makes this system the most suitable for the application and will keep construction costs low. From a safety aspect, the system has huge advantages, levitation occurs purely through movement, therefore if any type of power failure occurs, Hyperloop pods would continue to levitate and only after reaching minimal speeds touch the ground.”
