NASA is inviting U.S. companies to propose innovative Artemis Lunar logistics and mobility solutions, as part of the upcoming space missions.
The request for proposals for innovative ideas for landing and moving cargo on the Moon, issued in September, also aligns with NASA’s broader goals to eventually explore Mars under the Moon to Mars Objectives.
Earlier, NASA released two documents outlining the challenges of lunar logistics and mobility. These papers are built on a previous document that discussed logistics requirements. In this new request, called Lunar Logistics and Mobility Studies, NASA asks companies to take these papers into account when designing solutions to meet the agency’s future needs.
Nujoud Merancy, deputy associate administrator, of strategy and architecture in the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, said:
“NASA relies on collaborations from diverse partners to develop its exploration architecture. Studies like this allow the agency to leverage the incredible expertise in the commercial aerospace community.”
