Onshore 15MW World’s Largest Wind Turbine. Sany Renewable Energy
Sany Renewable Energy successfully installed the self-developed onshore 15MW world’s largest wind turbine, the SI-270150, in Tongyu, Jilin Province.
This accomplishment set two new global records: the highest single-unit capacity and the largest rotor diameter for an onshore turbine.
The 15MW turbine, part of the 12.X-16.X MW platform, is designed to last 25 to 30 years.
With a rotor diameter of 270 meters and 131-meter-long blades, it covers a sweeping area of 57,256 square meters. A single turbine can generate enough electricity to power 160,000 households for a full year.
