Planet Venus

Real images of Venus suggest the planet is more unusual than once thought.

These restored photos are still the only clear, ground-level images ever taken of Venus’s surface.

Later missions using radar from orbit, along with newer observations,  including near-infrared measurements from the Parker Solar Probe that detected weak heat coming from the surface through gaps in the atmosphere, have helped scientists learn more about the planet.
