SolarStratos solar plane unveils plans to fly to the edge of space, 75,000 feet above Earth.
Powered by the sun, the 8.5 meters long SolarStratos set to launch in 2018, runs on a 32-kW electric engine.
The pilot must wear astronaut’s spacesuit to reach the altitude of 75,000 feet, because the craft will not be pressurized.
The plane unveiled publicly on December 7th and the mission will be launched in 2018.
