F-15 Rescue Mission

How did the U.S. carry out one of the boldest rescue missions ever, deep in enemy territory? It all comes down to one rule: leave no one behind.

The military is willing to send dozens of helicopters and over a hundred elite troops just to save one person.
It began when the F-15 aircraft was shot down.

Both crew members ejected. The pilot was rescued quickly, but the Weapons Systems Officer was injured and left behind.
Relying on his survival training, he made his way to a remote mountain ridge and turned on his beacon, just as enemy forces started closing in.
But the CIA had a plan.
They launched a clever distraction to mislead the enemy, sending them searching in the wrong place.
Once the enemy realized the trick, they rushed to the real location and surrounded the injured officer.
At the last moment, Special Forces arrived in Little Bird helicopters, firing to hold the enemy back, with support from A-10 aircraft and Reaper drones.
But as they tried to extract him, things started to go wrong…
Showing just how far the military will go, even risking a $100 million aircraft, to bring one soldier home.
