Virgin Galactic‘s newest spacecraft is moving closer to spaceflight.
Virgin Galactic, founded by Richard Branson in 2004, expects its upgraded Delta spacecraft to take its first flight in summer 2026. This would mark Virgin Galactic’s first suborbital trip since June 2024.
Assembly of the Delta spacecraft, designed for civilian space travel, is set to begin in March. Built for quicker turnaround times, it can carry up to six passengers—two more than earlier versions. The initial missions will only carry research cargo.

What magnificent news! SS-2 is coming soon, to continue competing with Blue Origin’s New Shepard, amazing for Virgin Galactic. I don’t know if its method to reach the Karman line is the most efficient, but it is definitely the most exciting.
