The photo above shows Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego, one of the most active volcanoes in Central America, as observed on this clear starry night by photographer Elisa Escamilla.
Fuego (12,346 ft or 3,763 m) erupted on the night of December 20, 2014. A plume of flame, ash and smoke undulates on westward winds toward Guatemala’s less fiery stratovolcanoes.
Note the light pollution behind Fuego from Guatemala City and other urban areas.
