Earth is Not the Perfect Planet

Earth may seem like the ideal planet for life, but much of it is actually harsh and difficult to survive in, with frozen deserts, scorching heat, rocky wastelands, and deep darkness.

Even the oceans are mostly empty spaces where very little life can exist. But as scientists discover more exoplanets, they are starting to ask whether there could be worlds far more suitable for life than Earth, where nature thrives on a scale beyond anything we know.

Could there be a true “Super-Earth” built perfectly for life? What would that planet be like, and what kinds of alien creatures might live there?

Why it matters:
Understanding what life could look like in better worlds may help scientists discover where alien life is most likely to exist and could change how we see our own planet and humanity’s place in the universe.
