The Yamaha Motoroid motorcycle originated as an experiment to explore new ways in which humans and machines can connect.

The first prototype, unveiled in 2017, could stand up on its own and interact autonomously with its rider.

In 2023, Yamaha introduced the MOTOROiD2, showing how the rider and machine could respond to each other like true partners. This year’s model, MOTOROiD:Λ, takes things further—it can learn and evolve on its own through reinforcement learning.

It trains in virtual environments and then applies what it learns in the real world using Sim2Real technology. By giving the machine a level of independent decision-making, MOTOROiD:Λ takes another step toward a future where rider and machine grow together.

Its main features include smooth, natural movements powered by AI learning and a lightweight yet durable exoskeleton designed to handle the bumps and crashes of the training process. By combining mobility with reinforcement learning for motion control, MOTOROiD:Λ sets out to redefine two-wheeled vehicles and open the door to a completely new kind of future.
